Mr Riccardo Bonomi is an Oncoplastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Breast Consultant Surgeon and Lead Clinician at University Hospitals  Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, Worthing site. He has been trained in General Surgery with interest in Oncology Surgery in Italy, achieving the equivalent CCST in 2000 at the University of Insubria.

Riccardo moved to the UK to join the Royal Marsden in Sutton, where he has been trained from 2004 to 2007. In 2007 he became a substantive Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Consultant Breast Surgeon at Worthing Hospital and worked for six years in the regional breast screening programme obtaining a post graduate certificate in ultrasound and interventional ultrasound guided procedure on breast at Kingston University, London. His main fields of interest are: 

  • Treatment of benign breast disease and congenital breast abnormalities
  • Treatment of deformities following breast cancer surgery or radiotherapy
  • Treatment of malignant breast disease
  • Cosmetic Breast Surgery

Trained in Lyon to perform lipomodeling as part as autologous breast reconstruction by Mr Delay and Mr Toussoun, Riccardo has keen interest in teaching and in September 2014 he has been nominated the Clinical Lead for Breast Sub-specialty at London Deanery Higher Skills Program Imperial College of London.

He is now Ordinary Member of the Board of the British Association of Surgical Oncology

In 2017 he became Fellow of the European Board of Surgery achieving the Honorary diploma in Breast Surgery

From 2018 he is also a Royal College Certified Cosmetic Surgeon with the Royal College of Surgery of England

From 2021 he is BRESO programme director for the breast Unit – University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Worthing
